FAQs

How long does my hair have to be to get waxed?

We recommend that you give your hair two weeks from the last day you shaved or trimmed to grow. This will put your hair roughly at 1/4 of an inch (length of a rice grain), which makes it long enough to wax.

Is there anything I should be doing before my wax?

Yes, doing a light exfoliation the night before or morning of, will help remove dead skin cells, unclog your pores and prepare your skin for waxing. We also suggest no caffeine, tanning, and 12 months free of certain medications.

I have problems with ingrown hairs, is there anything I can do about them?

Yes, exfoliating 2-3 times a week will help reduce clogged pores and ingrown hairs. For those with actively infected ingrown hairs, a serum designed for ingrown hairs is the best option to help reduce inflammation and bring the ingrown to the surface. We also recommend using one of the products your esthetician sells for the best results.

Can I get waxed if I’m on Accutane, Retin A or Renova?

No! If you are any medications that are related to acne treatment, blood thinners or anything that cause skin sensitivity or thinning, you CAN NOT get waxed. It is important to provide this information to your esthetician when filling out your client intake form or if your medications change within a 12 month period. Once you have been off certain medications for 12 months and have been approved by your doctor, you can start waxing services.

I have these red and white bumps after my wax, is this normal.

Yes, this is what is called a “histamine reaction”; your body will go into protective mode once the hairs have been removed to help protect your skin. This typical last for 24-48 hours (based on if you take your esthetician advice on treatment). Your esthetician should go over this with all first time clients and prove a list of products to use to help reduce the reaction.

Is there anything I can take to help with the pain?

We suggest taking a pain reliever of your choice 30 minutes before the service, this will help reduce some of the discomfort, but not take away the pain. You can also take Benadryl before the service to help reduce irritation after waxing.
